Google Classroom: Discussion Questions
This video will tell you how you can use Google Classroom to lead discussion in your classroom and foster communication. It will show how to attach primary resource documents, videos and web links right to your questions so students can easily reflect on the material or have a Socratic Seminar. There are many advantages to having discussion virtually. If students are absent or learning off-campus, these discussions allow for more flexibility and thoughtful responses.
Can you think of some ways to include a virtual discussion in your classroom?
Some tips for an effective classroom discussion when using a discussion board.
- Make sure you do it more than once. Students will get better using this type of format the more they use it.
- Use the same rubric or set of standards for the entire year. Establishing a set of guidelines and expectations early in the process is a must.
- Make sure you are present in the discussion as well. You wouldn't ask a question in class and then leave would you? You can do this in a virtual environment either! Encourage and direct the students conversation.
