Innovative Learners Series: Think

Welcome to PyxisEdu’s Innovative Learners Series. We believe that every time you walk into your classroom you’re not delivering content, you’re providing opportunities. Every activity you work so hard to plan, every lesson you deliver is an opportunity for learning. This series will explore one of these Awesome 8 Learning Opportunities. Feel free to use individual resources, but to get a more in-depth understanding of this opportunity, we have organized the resource into a logical order.

Collection Description:

The ability to think about information critically translates to the ability to learn anything. Teaching kids how to ask the right questions, evaluate, and think of solutions is key to the learning process. Learners create questions, gather research, and form original thoughts.

Guiding Questions:

  • How does deeper thinking allows students to investigate questions that don’t necessarily have one right answer?
  • What types of activities allow students to evaluate multiple pieces of information that they organize into solutions or arguments?
  • What are strategies that allows students to formulate original thoughts and convince others of their position?

By the end of this collection, you will be able to:

  • Learn your role in the critical thinking process and why critical thinking is an important skill for students.
  • Examine how to push your students to go deeper through exploration and evaluation of information.
  • Explore the questioning process and learn how to create powerful questions that help drive the problem solving process.
  • Find critical thinking strategies that allows students to formulate original thoughts and convince others of their position.
